Re:Cognition Health has opened its first Irish clinic at Tallaght Cross East, Dublin, becoming the first dedicated independent memory centre in Ireland offering access to Alzheimer's disease-modifying treatments including Leqembi (lecanemab) and Kisunla (donanemab). The Dublin clinic is the first phase of Re:Cognition Health's planned Irish expansion.

Re:Cognition Health Limited (Companies House no. 06892124) is a London-headquartered private specialist cognitive healthcare provider, founded in 2011 by CEO Dr Emer MacSweeney and recognised as the UK's largest independent provider of Alzheimer's disease-modifying treatments. The company operates clinics in London, Birmingham, Guildford, Winchester, Bristol and Plymouth in the UK, and in Virginia, Texas and Illinois in the United States, and has conducted pivotal clinical trials for both lecanemab and donanemab. Revenue and EBITDA are not publicly disclosed. The Dublin clinic is led by Professor Sean Kennelly as Clinical Director for Ireland.

The structural driver is the combination of approved treatments with no public reimbursement pathway and a large Irish patient population previously travelling to UK clinics to access them. Leqembi and Kisunla both received EU-wide marketing authorisation in September 2025. The HSE has not approved reimbursement for either treatment; Irish-specific health economic modelling places both treatments significantly above the NCPE's €45,000 per QALY threshold, making HSE reimbursement structurally distant. The private prescription pathway is the only access route available to eligible patients in Ireland.

The clinical distinction Re:Cognition Health offers relative to general neurologists writing private prescriptions is the biomarker-led diagnostic pathway: amyloid PET scanning or cerebrospinal fluid analysis to confirm amyloid pathology before prescribing, ongoing ARIA monitoring through MRI during treatment and specialist multidisciplinary follow-up. This infrastructure, not the prescription itself, is the primary barrier to establishing safe disease-modifying treatment delivery in Ireland.

For the sector, Re:Cognition Health's Dublin launch confirms that specialist private Alzheimer's clinics are emerging as the access pathway of first resort for eligible Irish patients while HSE reimbursement remains unresolved.
