WriteUpp launches embedded AI Medical Scribe for Canadian private practices at CA$40 per user

Practice management software provider WriteUpp has introduced an AI Medical Scribe tool for clinicians in Canada, embedding automated clinical note generation directly within its platform to reduce administrative overhead for therapists, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners and allied health professionals operating in private practice settings.

According to Markets Business Insider, the tool supports SOAP, DAP, BIRP and Brief Progress Note formats and is available as a monthly per-user add-on at CA$40 (€26.50) per user, with licences assignable only to the clinicians who require them. The feature operates within WriteUpp's existing Notes, Documents and Assessments modules, using recorded consultations and post-session dictation to generate a first draft that populates directly into the patient file.

Two documentation modes are available. Record Patient Encounter captures live consultations and produces structured notes based on a selected template, while Dictate mode generates free text from spoken post-session input without requiring template selection. In Assessments, the tool uses consultation recordings to populate structured forms including mental health intake assessments and physiotherapy evaluation templates.

CEO Eric Lalonde said the integration was designed to remove friction from clinical documentation. "Clinicians should not have to choose between faster documentation and staying inside the system they trust. We built AI Medical Scribe so that clinical note automation happens in one place, under one login, with the same compliance standards Canadian practices already rely on."

Head of Growth Victoria Scott said the product responds to a clear market preference among Canadian clinicians. "What they want now is AI clinical documentation that lives inside their system, handles clinical formats they already use, and does not require a separate subscription to manage."
