Philippine hospital network The Medical City and health maintenance organisation PhilCare have entered a partnership to make PhilCare's prepaid healthcare products and digital authorisation tools available across TMC's full network of hospitals and clinics.
According to a report by Healthcare Asia Magazine, the agreement brings TMC's flagship hospital in Ortigas, TMC Clark, TMC South Luzon, TMC Iloilo, TMC Pangasinan, and more than 70 TMC Clinics under a unified arrangement with PhilCare. Through the partnership, PhilCare members can use their prepaid healthcare products at any TMC facility, with access facilitated through a streamlined electronic Letter of Authorisation system.
The eLOA system is designed to simplify the authorisation process at the point of care, with members encouraged to present their PhilCare membership details on arrival so that authorisation can be issued promptly. The digital tool removes the administrative friction typically associated with paper-based authorisation processes in private healthcare settings, supporting faster access to treatment for members across all participating TMC locations.
The partnership pairs TMC's established hospital and clinic infrastructure across multiple Philippine regions with PhilCare's prepaid product range and digital capabilities, creating a broader and more accessible network for PhilCare members seeking private healthcare services across Luzon and the Visayas. The inclusion of TMC Clark, TMC South Luzon, TMC Iloilo, and TMC Pangasinan alongside the flagship Ortigas hospital means the arrangement extends prepaid coverage well beyond Metro Manila, reaching members in provincial and regional centres where access to private healthcare has historically been more limited.
The agreement also strengthens the operational relationship between a major private hospital network and a health maintenance organisation by embedding a shared digital authorisation infrastructure across the point of care. For private healthcare operators across the Philippines, the arrangement illustrates how hospital networks and health maintenance organisations are increasingly formalising partnerships to extend prepaid product coverage across wider geographic footprints, improving both member access and care coordination across regional facilities.
The integration of a digital authorisation system into the point-of-care process reflects a broader push across Philippine private healthcare to reduce administrative burden on both patients and clinical staff, supporting more efficient use of hospital and clinic resources across a geographically dispersed network.
