LegitScript and Google extend healthcare advertising certification to India and New Zealand markets

According to e-commerce news, the expansion adds both countries to a framework already operating across the US, UK, Canada, France, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and South Africa. Eligible businesses in both markets can now apply for LegitScript Healthcare Certification and, once Google's corresponding policy changes take effect, seek Google certification to advertise healthcare services through its platform.

The move carries particular weight given the scale of both markets. India's online pharmacy sector is projected to exceed $14 billion (€11.9 billion) by 2034, while approximately 1.2 million people in New Zealand currently use telehealth services, a figure up 30% over five years, according to New Zealand Ministry of Health data cited by the company.

Regulatory shifts have reinforced the timing. New Zealand's Medicines Amendment Act 2025 introduced new medicine approval pathways and expanded prescribing rights for nurse practitioners and pharmacists, broadening the landscape for remote care and online prescribing.
