Enterprise Ireland renews Northwell Health alliance to scale Irish health tech in US market
Enterprise Ireland, the Irish government's trade and innovation agency, has signed a renewed strategic alliance with Northwell Health, one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States, to accelerate the entry and scaling of Irish life sciences and health technology companies in the American private healthcare market.
According to Irish American News, the signing took place in New York and was witnessed by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke, alongside senior representatives from both organisations.
The alliance, first established in 2016, currently supports 18 Enterprise Ireland client companies, delivering procurement contracts, clinical pilots, and strategic investments through Northwell Ventures.
Kevin Sherry, Executive Director at Enterprise Ireland, said: "Ireland's life sciences and health tech sector is producing world-class innovation at a remarkable pace and is attracting record VC investment, a testament to the depth and quality of Ireland's R&D ecosystem."
Elaine Brennan, Executive Director of Global Strategic Partnerships at Northwell Health, added: "Since 2016, we have provided Enterprise Ireland client companies with direct access to clinical experts across one of America's largest health systems, resulting in meaningful outcomes including procurement contracts, clinical pilots and trials, and strategic investments from Northwell Ventures."
Separately, Galway-based medtech firm Neurent Medical signed a dedicated partnership with Northwell Health on the same occasion. The company, which develops minimally invasive treatments for chronic rhinitis, closed an oversubscribed €62.5 million Series C funding round in February 2026.
Ireland recorded €491 million in life sciences and health technology venture capital investment in 2024, according to PitchBook data, defying a broader global slowdown.
Under the renewed agreement, Irish companies will gain access to Northwell's network of 28 hospitals and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities, alongside introductions to its innovation and commercial infrastructure.
