Carson McDowell names Deirdre Ryan as partner to expand Irish healthcare law team
Carson McDowell has appointed Deirdre Ryan as partner in its Dublin office, reinforcing its healthcare law team and broadening expertise across Ireland’s healthcare and legal landscape.
Ryan joins the firm from a Cork-based healthcare defence practice, bringing extensive experience representing State bodies, public hospitals, and private healthcare providers in high-value medical litigation. Her background includes acting for clinicians before the Coroner’s Court and advising on complex clinical claims.
Sinead Keavey, partner and head of the Dublin office, said Ryan’s appointment will strengthen the firm’s client offering and leadership capacity. “She brings a wealth of technical expertise and practical insight to our team,” Keavey said. Jacqueline McAleese, head of clinical claims for Northern Ireland and Ireland, added that Ryan’s arrival reinforces Carson McDowell’s standing as a leading legal adviser in the healthcare sector.
Ryan expressed enthusiasm about joining the firm, noting Carson McDowell’s reputation for innovation and in-depth sector understanding. “I am delighted to be part of such a dynamic and experienced team,” she said.
Since opening its Dublin office in 2016, Carson McDowell has expanded steadily, building a multidisciplinary healthcare team of over 30 professionals. The firm continues to grow its all-island presence, offering clients comprehensive legal support across both jurisdictions.
