Blackrock Health launches comprehensive women’s health centre in Dublin

Blackrock Health has officially opened the Blackrock Health Women’s Health Centre at 2-5 Warrington Place, Dublin 2, marking the launch of Ireland’s most comprehensive private, consultant-led facility dedicated to women’s healthcare. The €16 million investment supports specialist-led care across multiple disciplines.

The centre brings together 28 consultants, four women’s medicine specialists, and 30 allied health professionals, providing coordinated access to a wide range of services. Offerings include consultant-led clinics in gynaecology, urology, breast health, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pain medicine, cardiology, dermatology, psychology, health screening, and rheumatology.

A full complement of nursing and allied health services enhances patient care. These include physiotherapy, urodynamics, phlebotomy, and advanced radiology diagnostics such as DXA scanning, mammography, and ultrasound. The integrated approach ensures that treatment across various health areas is delivered with consideration of co-existing conditions, providing a holistic patient experience under one roof.

The facility is led by Clinical Director Professor Donal Brennan, a Gynaecological Oncologist, with support from Dr Gerry Agnew, Clinical Lead Urogynaecology, Dr Caoimhe Hartley, Clinical Lead Women’s Medicine, and Professor Kirk Levins in Pain Medicine. This multidisciplinary team enables seamless coordination between specialties.

Group CEO Dr Caroline Whelan emphasised that the centre expands access to high-quality, specialist care for women, reflecting Blackrock Health’s commitment to comprehensive and patient-focused healthcare. Dr Hartley noted that the integrated model addresses the interconnected nature of women’s health and ensures services are both accessible and tailored.

The opening aligns with the Women’s Health Action Plan 2024-2025, addressing service gaps and improving patient access. Women can now self-refer or be referred by a GP for any of the centre’s services, supporting timely and convenient care.
